Our Services
We offer a variety of services to help treat various diseases and allergies. For more information about common diseases and their treatments, see below:
Allergic Rhinitis and Allergic Conjunctivitis
Approximately 25% of Americans suffer from allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis. Allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis (also called eczema), and asthma have been increasing steadily in many parts of the world over the last few decades. Allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis cause symptoms of runny nose, sneezing, nasal itching, nasal congestion or stuffiness, and itchy, red eyes. Learn more
Drug Allergy
Occasionally patients may have experienced rashes with antibiotics in the past or even had parents tell them from many years past about an allergy they once had but details regarding the reaction will be forgotten. Sometimes, mild rashes do not indicate significant allergy to a medication, and allergic sensitization to medications can even be lost after several years. Learn more
Food Allergy
If ingestion of specific foods causes symptoms of hives, swelling, or more severe generalized symptoms, then we can check for allergy to these foods with prick skin tests. Common food allergies include peanuts, tree nuts (such as walnuts, cashews, or almonds), fish, shellfish, wheat, soy, egg, and milk. Learn more
Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic Dermatitis Atopic dermatitis, also called eczema, is an inflammatory reaction of the skin. It is the “itch that rashes”. Most eczema begins in infants and young children and tends to improve with time and most resolve by seven years of age. Eczema can occur anywhere on the body but usually on the face, scalp, abdomen and arms of infants. Learn more
Asthma
Most asthma is allergic in nature, but about 1/3 of asthma is non-allergic (without evidence of any skin or blood test allergy triggers). While most asthma is diagnosed in childhood, about 20% of asthma may be diagnosed as adult-onset asthma. Shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, nighttime awakenings with respiratory symptoms, or exercise intolerance may be signs of asthma. To help determine if asthma is the cause of your symptoms, we will take a careful history and perform spirometry (see above) to check for airway obstruction. Learn more
Immunodeficiencies
Sometimes recurrent sinus infections, ear infections, pneumonia, sepsis (blood infections) can be the sign of a problem with the immune system. These problems can be a lack of protective blood borne antibody production, decreased function of specific types of white blood cells that fight infection, or both. Learn more
Diagnostic Testing
We offer a variety of diagnostic tests at our clinic including allergy skin testing to help in the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and food allergy. Skin tests may be helpful to identify food allergy triggers of eczema (commonly milk, wheat, soy, peanut, or tree nuts). We also offer spirometry which is also called pulmonary function testing to check for airway obstruction which may accompany diseases like asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis).
